CARDIAC MONITORING

Life with a Remote Cardiac Monitor

Daily use

As part of having wearable cardiac monitor, like the BodyGuardianTM MINI, there is some key information to know and consider about it’s daily use. This page outline all you need to know about life with a Remote Cardiac Monitor.

Recording your symptoms

Recording symptoms is an important part of the process for your phyisician to be able measure and treat your heart issue effectively. Knowing how to do this is vital to your journey to better health.

If you begin to feel symptoms related to the reason your monitor was prescribed, such as dizziness, chest pain, or shortness of breath, you can manually record these events.

On the monitor, press and release the center button once. The monitor makes a single beep on a successful button push. Do not hold the button down.

In your Holter diary, provided with the other BodyGuardian equipment, write down the symptom date and time.

Be sure to include your diary in the box when you return your equipment at the conclusion of your prescription.

Charging your BodyGuardian MINI

When the monitor battery is low, the monitor alerts you with two beeps and blue blinks every 5 seconds. If the low battery alert sounds, charge the monitor immediately. To charge the monitor follow the steps below:

  1. Remove the Strip or electrodes from your chest, then remove the monitor.
  2. Firmly plug the charger into the monitor.

While charging, the blue light on the monitor will blink. Once fully charged, the blue light will remain solidly lit.

Charging time can vary between 2-3 hours depending on initial charge.

As soon as the monitor is fully charged, use a new Strip or new electrodes to re-apply BodyGuardian MINI to your chest. If you need guidance on how to do this refer to the Instructions for Use or go to the Getting started with monitoring page for more information.

Do not use your own personal device chargers. Only use the charger(s) provided to charge the equipment. Normally, the cardiac monitor does not need to be charged by the patient, as it is usually provided already charged.

Sounds and Lights to look out for

While wearing the BodyGuardian MINI there may be times where the device flashes and beeps to indicate any issues related to your device. Explore what these signs mean below.

Two beeps and two red flashes every five seconds means that your BodyGuardian MINI has not detected good contact with your skin for over 8 hours.

To resolve this, revisit the section about placing and adhering BodyGuardian MINI in the Instructions for Use or the on Getting started with monitoring page to ensure that:

  • The monitor is securely attached to the Strip or ECG lead set.
  • BodyGuardian MINI is properly placed and securely adhered to your chest.
  • If the monitor continues to beep – Remove the Strip or ECG electrodes, use a new Strip or ECG electrodes, and repeat the setup steps.

Two beeps and two blue flashes every five seconds means that your BodyGuardian MINI has a low battery and needs to be charged immediatley.

To resolve this, revisit the section above about charging BodyGuardian MINI or refer to the relevant section in the Instructions for Use.

Replacing the adhesive Strip or Bridge/ECG electrodes of your BodyGuardian MINI

When the monitor battery is low, the monitor alerts you with two beeps and blue blinks every 5 seconds. If the low battery alert sounds, charge the monitor immediately. To charge the monitor follow the steps below:

Change the Strip when it no longer adheres to the skin. Strips are disposable.

  1. Remove the monitor from the Strip, then charge the monitor.
  2. Slowly peel back and roll the adhesive away from your chest, continually blotting with lukewarm soapy water.

Tip: For easiest removal, start by peeling back the edge of the Strip furthest from the black hub. It is suggested to remove the Strip while showering to limit the potential for skin irritation issues.
