CARDIAC MONITORING

Insertable Cardiac Monitors (ICM)

What is an Insertable Cardiac Monitor?

An Insertable Cardiac Monitor (ICM) is a small electronic device inserted just under the skin to track the rhythm of your heart. The LUX-Dx™ ICM, which is about the size of a paperclip, continuously tracks your heart’s rhythm – even when you don’t notice any symptoms – and automatically sends this information to your care team for review. This means you can go about your day as normal while your heart is quietly monitored in the background.

While it doesn’t treat arrhythmias, it helps your doctor diagnose them by providing a clear picture of your heart’s activity over time.

How it works

LUX-Dx ICM System

Your ICM device automatically records and stores irregular heart rhythms, or arrhythmias. The myLUX™ Patient App will then send the data to your clinic for review. This generally happens overnight and is silent.

What to expect during your procedure

Getting the LUX-Dx ICM is simple and quick. It usually takes less than 15 minutes and is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure. The device is placed just under the skin in your chest via a small incision and most patients can return to normal activities shortly after.

Your health care team will start by numbing the area where the device will be inserted with local anesthesia.

A small incision will then be made on the chest. The incision is usually on the left side of the chest.

Your health care team will then insert the LUX-Dx ICM under your skin.

The incision will then be closed and you will be sent with care instructions from your health care team.
